What is the Vegas MPowerment Project?
We are a social gathering place for young Gay/Bisexual men who are between 20 and 29 years
of age. We are also a model HIV Prevention Program that has been designed specifically
to address the needs of these men.
We are:
-
Building a strong community in Southern Nevada for young Gay/Bisexual men.
-
Inclusive of all Gay/Bisexual men in the targeted age range.
-
Protecting and supporting each other.
-
Guys meeting Guys.
-
Having fun!
This age group of Gay/Bisexual men continue to engage in high rates of
unprotected anal intercourse and are becoming infected with
HIV at alarming rates.
"By and large, young men know how HIV is
transmitted, and those who engage in unprotected intercourse
generally admit that their behavior puts them at risk for
HIV transmission."
-
Young men are often exploring their sexuality, which may lead to a
willingness to try a variety of sexual activities - both
high and low risk - with multiple partners.
-
Young men may also have less experience talking to their partners about
safer sex and may be reluctant to insist on using condoms every time.
What are we up to right now?
We have just gained a new space at The Center for our
Project, due to the great growth in our numbers! We are
about to begin remodeling the space; moving walls,
painting, decorating. We're very excited.
Also visit our Calendar page for information, dates
and times regarding our current and upcoming events.
What can you do with us?
Please visit the rest of our site, using the
navigation bar at the tops of the pages, for in-depth
information on what our Project is and what we do.
There's a lot you can see, share and learn when you're with us,
so explore!
