M-Group meetings are held on the fourth Friday of
each month, at 7:00 PM, at the LGBT Community Center.
The group usually lasts 2 to 3 hours. The atmosphere is
relaxed and social, but with a focus on HIV prevention.
The group meeting includes refreshments and food.
M-Groups make it possible for young
gay/bisexual men to meet and get to know one another in a
safe, supportive and enjoyable setting. This atmosphere
provides a stimulus for young men to confront issues and
feelings that they may not ordinarily focus on and to relate
to other young men in a deep and profound way.
Here is what M-groups can do for you;
- Clear up misconceptions about unsafe and safer sex.
- Increase the enjoyment of safer sex.
- Building communication skills for negotiating safer sex.
- Addressing interpersonal issues that may interfere with safer sex.
- Planning ahead to have safer sex.
- Social norms about safer sex.
- How to use condoms.
- Social support to have safer sex.
One of the sections of M-Group is
intended to motivate and train participants to encourage
their friends to have safer sex. We are a community and if
we don't look after ourselves how can we expect anybody else
to.
More information on M-Group can be found on the
Structure page.
